§ 297.21. Closing hours of county offices.

    Notwithstanding any inconsistent provision of law, general, special or local, all county offices, except the Board of Elections, shall be kept open for the transaction of business every day in the year except Saturdays, Sundays and other days declared by law to be holidays, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

    For all clerical and administrative employees in county offices, the basic workweek shall be 35 hours as fixed by the County Board. All other county employees shall continue on the presently established 40-hour basic workweek, as fixed by the County Board.

    Notwithstanding the foregoing provisions, the County Executive, in an emergency situation only, is hereby authorized and empowered to close county offices, except those providing essential services, on any day where an emergency situation, in his discretion, warrants such action.

    4.

    Whenever the last day on which any paper shall be filed or act done or performed falls on any Saturday during such period of Saturday closing as herein provided, the time therefor is hereby extended to and including the next business day.
