§ 191.11. Membership of County Planning Board.

    The County Planning Board shall consist of 12 members, to include:

    a.

    Appointed by the County Executive, with the approval of the County Board, nine members as follows: one resident of each of any four cities in the county; one resident of each of any two villages in the county; and three residents of the area outside any city or village; and

    b.

    Ex officio: the Commissioner of Public Works and Transportation, the Commissioner of Environmental Facilities and the Commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Conservation.

    The terms of the appointive members of the board shall be three years, each to expire at the end of a calendar year. The present members of the County Planning Commission shall serve as members of the County Planning Board for the duration of the respective terms for which they were appointed and their successors shall be appointed for three-year terms as aforesaid. Any vacancy shall be filled for the unexpired term in the same manner in which the original appointment was made. The members of the board shall serve as such without compensation but shall be entitled to receive their actual disbursements and expenses in performing the duties of their office. At the beginning of his term of office the County Executive shall designate one of the appointed members to serve as chairman of the board at the pleasure of the County Executive. The board shall annually elect from its own members a Vice Chairman and may from time to time name such other officers as it deems necessary.
