§ 190.04. Powers and duties of the council.

  • The council shall have the power and duty:

    1.

    To formulate and recommend to the County Executive the qualifications required for the Executive Director of the Council for Environmental Coordination;

    2.

    To have representation on any selection committee for Executive Director of said Council;

    3.

    To formulate and make recommendations to the County Executive and the Board of Legislators upon basic policy with respect to environmental issues that affect the county and its various departments and agencies with duties and responsibilities relating to the environment;

    4.

    To develop and recommend to the County Executive and the Board of Legislators policies or legislation that furthers the protection of the environment and the principles of environmental conduct set forth herein;

    5.

    To coordinate the effective use of the various county departments and agencies in fulfillment of the principles of environmental conduct set forth herein;

    6.

    To prepare, approve and issue an annual environmental performance report of the county government to the County Executive and the Board of Legislators;

    7.

    To adopt such rules and regulations that are necessary for the council to conduct its duties and discharge its responsibilities under this law; and

    8.

    To perform such other duties as may be assigned by the County Executive or the Board of Legislators.
